Lynne Karoll James

Lynne is a principal advisor and owner of LKJ Financial, LLC and has over 40 years’ experience in the financial planning industry.  Lynne helps individuals build tailored lifestyle plans to achieve their retirement dreams and takes pride in building lifelong relationships with her clients. 

Recently, Lynne partnered with Woman’s Worth®, a firm that specializes in working with women and addressing the unique lifestyle planning needs women require as they approach retirement and also during retirement.  She knows the importance of creating a plan that not only is financially secure, but also addresses the importance of being emotionally and physically protected.  It’s about building a life plan – “It’s not just about the money”. Lynne is proud of the fact that the approach of her company is the total well-being of the person.  The holistic approach she takes helps her connect on a deeper level with the people she works with.  

Along with Lindsey, Lynne teaches retirement planning courses taught at various Houston Community Colleges. She enjoys teaching and has felt fulfilled in educating individuals in the community who she believes deserve more attention and involvement than they often receive. She places great importance on the personal connection she achieves with her clients.

Lynne attended the University of Wisconsin as well as the University of Mexico in Mexico City after four years of boarding school in Florida playing competitive tennis nationally. She holds a Series 7, Series 6, Series 63 and Series 66 License as well as a Group 1 Life, Health and Variable Insurance license. She is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and in 2010 was named Woman of the Year by the National Association for Professional Women.

In addition to her partnership with Lindsey in the family firm, Lynne is a widow and the mother of a special needs daughter. She has lived in Houston for over 30 years and enjoys traveling, particularly to Acapulco where she lived for a number of years after working as an actress and commercial model in Mexico City. In Acapulco, Lynne was a teaching tennis pro and had a four-page weekly spread in the society section of the Heraldo de Mexico where her photographs illustrated the weekly social events in Acapulco. Lynne is a supporter of M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, in memory of her husband, Louis, as well as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Lindsey James-West, CFP®

Lindsey is a co-owner and principal advisor of LKJ Financial, LLC.  Her number one focus is helping people achieve financial peace of mind.   She enjoys teaching and building customized life style strategies to help individuals, families and business owners reach their financial goals. She has built a reputation as a personally-engaged problem solver who provides exceptional, hands-on service. Working with other advisors, attorneys, tax professionals and caregivers, Lindsey’s approach is inclusive, transparent and education-based.

With an acute awareness of the need to address the specific concerns of women, Lindsey has partnered with Woman’s Worth® and takes a holistic approach to a woman’s total well-being in regards to retirement life planning.  Her focus is not only on the financials; she ensures that women’s physical and emotional aspects are addressed within her plans.  She recognizes that women retire very differently from the way men do and she is careful to address these differences in her practice.  She’s is proud to specialize in life planning, not just financial planning. 

For Lindsey, making sure there is a deep connection to whoever she is working with is a critical part of the planning process. By taking time to understand her clients, Lindsey aligns her advice with their financial and lifestyle needs and aspirations.

Lindsey conducts private and public speaking engagements, discussing the ever-changing economic and financial landscape, as well as the opportunities that it presents. She teaches retirement planning courses at various Houston Community College campuses and also works with companies to bring financial education into the workplace. 

Lindsey is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and has Series 7, Series 66 and Group 1 Life, Health and Variable Insurance licenses. She holds a B.S. from Northwestern University and completed the CFP® Certification Program through Rice University. Lindsey is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and Houston’s National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA).

Although Lindsey and her husband, Marshall, are a long-time residents of Houston, she enjoys traveling and has spent time living in Chicago, Spain and London. Lindsey loves yoga, running and exploring Houston’s neighborhoods on foot. Lindsey is proud to hold a leadership position within the Junior League of Houston, an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. She also supports Casa de Esperanza, a local Houston charity that provides a safe place for children in crisis due to abuse, neglect or the effects of HIV.
